Treat your mother to high-tea this Mother´s Day on May 13 at Kitchen@Melia at Melia hotel. Give your mother the well deserved break she needs with interesting dishes prepared by executive chef Mohamad Sharif.
Among the highlights of the high-tea will be the two types of paella, a Spanish dish, cooked with long grain rice.
The first is paella cooked with seafood such as mussels, prawns and squid with saffron. It´s a must try for seafood and rice lovers. The other is the Negra paella made with squid ink.
Mohamad said the ink from fresh squids are used to cook the rice, adding that the dish is gaining popularity among locals.
He expects it to be a hit at the high-tea. Guests could also savour seared tuna, Vietnamese spring roll and salmon quiche.
"If you like seafood you will enjoy the seafood paella," he said.
Local favourites such as roti jala with chicken curry, roti bom with dhal, homemade barbecue chicken pau and rojak buah will also be on the buffet spread.
Other highlights will be the prawn puff with honey mayonnaise, salmon quiche and Thai beef tortilla with ginger stew. Japanese tempura and sushi are also available.
Mohamad said guests can look forward to the wide and exciting array of desserts. He will be serving some of his specialities such as durian macaroon and berries parfait.
Weight watchers with a sweet tooth should try the healthy berries parfait with key ingredients such as low fat yogurt, several types of berries, granola and cereals.
The chef also recommends guests to try the special Chinese tea made of sugar cane, longan and lychee.
"The special tea can help cool the body," said Mohamad.
Kitchen@Melia is a newly launched restaurant at the Melia hotel.
The restaurant has a seating capacity of 180 guests and has incorporated the live kitchen concept where guests can watch the chefs cook.
Cold cuts, a salad bar, a Japanese salad bar, a dessert corner and a wide selection of wines are also available.
