Chef Musatafa Kamal and his team have planned an assortment of traditional Malaysian state delights from the skilful hands of mums to whet your appetite. Menus will be rotated daily promising a buka puasa with a difference comprising appetizers, soups, main dishes, drinks and desserts at the Duyong Restaurant.
Hailing from Penang, there are special laksa Penang, ayam panggang madu Tanjung, kari ikan tenggiri, udang goreng masala, ketam goreng berempah. Melaka specialities include asam pedas ikan kembung, siput sedut cili padi, sotong masak sambal, fried beansprout with kucai. Whilst wholesome Pahang menu include ayam golek Jerantut, ikan patin gulai tempoyak, sotong serai, daging gulai kawah will be served.
Neighboring eastern state, Trengganu will serve sotong bakar berkunyit, daging gulai Terengganu, pucuk manis keledek and udang masak gulai lemak. Kelantanese delights such as laksam, ayam bakar cek mek, sayur campur Melayu, udang goreng cili manis and ikan bawal masak gulai.
From the Northern state, Perlis, ayam lemak rebung, ikan pari asam pedas, udang sambal petai, pisang muda with pucuk kadok will be featured. From Kedah, the rice bowl of Malaysia, offerings include ikan kari, daging salai air asam and petola tumis air. Down south, appetizing Johorean dishes include kacang panjang goreng Jawa, sayur lodeh, ayam masak merah to name a few.
Delicious Perak dishes like gulai nenas ikan masin, ikan masam asam, rendang ayam while the state of Selangor and Wilayah offers udang hor loh, daging masak kalio, kurma rusuk kambing, steam beancurd dried shrimps, ikan masak kari, daging masak kicap lada benggala and terung goreng bercili will be presented Last but not least, some of the Negeri Sembilan main dishes are paru goreng berlada, daging rendang minang and petola tumis air.
For starters, there are fresh kampong ulam-ulaman, side starters like paru goreng tempe sira cili, jeruk-jeruk, kerabu pucuk paku, are just a few to mention. Besides the white fragrant rice, nasi hujan panas, nasi pilaf, nasi carrot, nasi arab, or nasi minyak will also be featured.
There will also be stall concepts featuring a very wide spread of delicacies such as BBQ whole chicken or lamb, satay, varieties of pita bread, dalca, soups, bubur lambok, goreng-gorengs depending on the dayâ€™s specials.
To round off a satisfying berbuka puasa meal, guests can choose from a variety of mouthwatering dessert treats including tropical fruits, traditional kuihs, cakes, pastries, agar-agar, puddings, sweets other than the usual teh tariks, juices and syrups.
